Course Objectives This course aims to teach the ethical problems students may encounter in their professional lives and the ways to solve these problems. Increasing awareness of patient safety, identifying risk factors, legal dimension of patient safety and root cause analysis skills are taught.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • define patient rights.
  • explain the legal responsibilities of health workers.
  • discuss ethical codes related to his / her profession
  • define the ethical problem and propose solutions.
  • explain patient safety.
  • define the medical errors.
  • discuss the causes of medical errors by root cause analysis.
  • discuss the legal dimension of patient safety.
Course Description This course covers the basic human and patient rights, legal responsibilities of healthcare professionals, ethical problems and solutions, risky and priority areas in patient safety, communication and teamwork, medical errors, root cause analysis, employee health, ethical and legal aspects in patient safety.
