Nursing students acquire nursing skills under the supervision of instructors in physiology, anatomy and clinical skills laboratories.

Nursing department students acquire nursing skills under the supervision of instructors in physiology, anatomy and clinical skills laboratories in our university.

Within the scope of the cooperation protocol with Medical Point Izmir and El, Microsurgery, Orthopaedics and Traumatology "EMOT" Hospital, our students carry out their practices and summer internships in these hospitals. At the same time, they carry out their clinical practice in public hospitals deemed appropriate by the Provincial Health Directorate during the semester.

Laboratory Rules Students Must Follow

1. When using the laboratory environment, it is mandatory to comply with the rules established for the laboratory.
2. Laboratory applications are conducted on the dates and times specified in the course schedule. If additional applications are required, arrangements can be made based on the availability of the responsible instructor and the laboratory.
3. It is mandatory to bring the checklists provided for professional skills laboratory applications to class.
4. It is prohibited to leave the application area, change the application location, or abandon the application without informing the instructor responsible for the application and obtaining their permission.
5. All tools, equipment, and training materials in the laboratory must be used in accordance with the written instructions.
6. Care must be taken to use all tools and equipment carefully.
7. Any malfunction in the laboratory must be reported to the relevant instructor.
8. It is prohibited to interfere with tools and equipment outside the scope of the relevant application or to move them from the application area to another area without the knowledge of the responsible instructor.
9. No noise should be made in the laboratory, and loud talking is not permitted.
10. If a wet area forms in the laboratory, it should not be walked on, and the responsible instructor should be informed.
11. Persons responsible for damage to or loss of tools and equipment must compensate for the damage incurred.
12. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late to the laboratory without a valid excuse will be considered absent for that class period.
13. Bringing food and drinks into the laboratory is prohibited.
14. At the end of laboratory applications, students are required to assist the responsible teaching staff in collecting all used tools, equipment, and educational materials.
15. At the end of the application, stools and chairs in the laboratory must be arranged so that the laboratory is left clean and tidy.
16. Cell phones must be turned off or set to silent mode in the laboratory.
17. Taking unauthorized photographs, recording audio and video, publishing, and sharing in the laboratory is prohibited under the Personal Data Protection Law.
18. Students must wear their own white lab coats in the laboratory.
19. Students must bring their own stethoscopes to the laboratory.
20. Long hair must be tied back, nails must be short, and clothing and jewelry must not interfere with the procedure.
21. Laboratory procedures must be performed under the supervision of teaching staff.
22. Students are prohibited from performing procedures on each other in the laboratory.
23. When working with solutions such as alcohol, betadine (povidone-iodine), lubricating gel, etc., used in laboratory applications, avoid contact with the face, mouth, and eyes.
24. To prevent injuries from sharp instruments, the caps of syringe needles used after drug administration, blood collection, and catheterization should not be replaced. The needle part of the syringe should be disposed of in a yellow waste container, and the syringe barrel should be disposed of in household waste.
25. Hands must be washed with soap and water before and after laboratory procedures.
26. Wearing a mask is mandatory during laboratory procedures when necessary.
27. In addition to the above items, compliance with the rules established by Izmir University of Economics is mandatory in case of sudden developments.
